A second year filled with new attractions! - Open House Day and new attractions to celebrate the first anniversary of the PI-O Indoor Theme Park
LONGUEUIL, QC, Nov. 27, 2012, 2012 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) --
Located on boulevard
Curé-Poirier in Longueuil, the Centre d'amusement PI-O will celebrate
its first anniversary in mid-December. To commemorate this milestone,
the indoor theme park will hold an Open House Day on Friday, December
14 between 3:00 and 9:00 p.m. for all families that are interested in
coming out to discover a spectacular fantasy world. Since it opened
last December, the indoor amusement park has hosted some 50,000
visitors.
Mascots PI-O and PI-AT, two gentle octopi, are presently preparing to
welcome a new boarder and to celebrate larger than life in this
ever-expanding complex. In fact, 7000 square feet of additional space,
which is in addition to the existing 28,000 square feet, will make it
possible to accommodate new rides, new interactive games, and three new
party rooms. The project will be completed in the next few weeks.
The PI-O Indoor Theme Park is the only indoor amusement park in Quebec
to offer rides and games for children aged 2 to 10 under the theme of
marine wildlife, in addition to serving healthy meals to its clientele.
Continuously striving to improve her facility, Jocelyne and Michael
Pinard, the centre's owners, recently met an old fisherman who "reeled
her in" and told them one story after another about his adventures on
the seven seas. This old man served as the inspiration for fisherman
PO-LO. He will make his grand entrance alongside octopi PI-O and PI-AT
in December. PO-LO will teach the children the basics of geography,
marine resources, and the treasures hidden in the oceans, lakes and
rivers around the world. This fun yet educational component will be
adapted to the clientele, and promises to be light and fun.
In addition to mingling and interacting with the children, starting in
January, old fisherman PO-LO, who claims to be a citizen of the world,
will use new interactive terminals and numerous "Did you know…" type
posters displayed throughout the centre to present interesting facts to
the young and the young-at-heart. These terminals will add a new
interactive, fun and educational dimension to this one-of-a-kind indoor
theme park.
"It was perfectly natural to enlist the services of a friendly old
fisherman to increase the children's awareness of the environment,
marine wildlife, and geography in general," Mrs. Pinard observed. PO-LO
and the interactive terminals will diversity the services we offer by
instilling basic knowledge that is both amusing and enriching."
Theme parties
In addition to the introduction of PO-LO, the indoor theme park intends
to offer thematic activities for families throughout 2013. Every major
holiday including Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Halloween and
Christmas will be celebrated with popular thematic activities which,
depending on the occasion, could include special meals, contests,
treasure hunts, mystery gifts and many more surprises.
List of theme parties scheduled for 2013:
Sun. Feb. 9 Valentine's Day Sun. June 16 Father's Day
