Channel Zero proudly announces the launch
of REWIND on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
REWIND is Canada's first specialty channel to connect Generation X to
the films they grew up watching. Featuring favourites from the 70s, 80s
and 90s, REWIND will transport viewers back to the era of the VCR
through daily access to some of the greatest films of all time.
The channel is available on Rogers, Shaw, Telus, Cogeco, MTS, Videotron
and other Cable and Telco partners (complete list available at WatchRewind.com). Customers of these providers will receive a 60-day free preview
ending January 31, 2013, and can subscribe to REWIND as part of a
movie-based theme pack.
"REWIND's sister station Silver Screen Classics, which features films from the 30s to the 60s, has seen great success,"
said Jennifer Chen, VP Programming, Channel Zero. "Taking inspiration
from it, the idea of launching a companion channel with films from the
next three decades was born. We bounced the idea off of colleagues,
family and friends who are in their 30s and 40s, and the response was
incredibly encouraging. It quickly became apparent that we could close
a gap in the marketplace and give Canadian movie lovers more of the
films they want to watch. "
From Annie Hall to Casino, the 70s, 80s and 90s brought us some of the greatest films of all
time. Blockbusters like Terminator and Apollo 13 wowed audiences with their modern effects. Teen comedies like Fast Times at Ridgemont High and The Breakfast Club made us laugh at our common high school foibles. Cult classics like American Graffiti and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas defined generations. And, superstars such as Robert DeNiro, Jack
Nicholson and Julia Roberts were born. These are your movies. This is your channel. Welcome to REWIND! Click for a Preview.
NATIONAL REWIND YOUR VCR DAY
Now that REWIND has arrived, it's time for our remaining VCRs to head to
a permanent and environmentally-responsible resting place -- National
REWIND Your VCR Day will take place on January 5, 2013 across Canada.
REWIND will donate $25 for each VCR it collects in Toronto, Calgary,
Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal, with a goal of raising $25,000 for
World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Anyone who recycles a VCR or visits the
REWIND Experience at the mall locations (see attached additional
details) can enter to win a $2,000 cash prize to "rewind" their holiday
bills. One lucky winner per market will be selected.
