Besttoolbars Announces Release of Updated Browser Add-On Framework

Dec 12, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Publicly available from 12 December 2012, the latest incarnation of the Add-On Framework tool makes it easier than ever for organizations to build browser add-ons for all major browsers. The new version of the software now officially supports Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10. Developers Besttoolbars have also added support for Internet Explorer 64bit and included a single-installer function for each of the five major web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera).

In a study published last week, Besttoolbars revealed that cross-browser release improved audience coverage by an average of 72-95%. This makes browser add-on development for multiple browser platforms an extremely valuable endeavor and one that is now more easily facilitated by the single-installer function.

Vladimir Zhukov, Besttoolbars Head of Marketing said, "Our data shows that businesses who publish their browser add-ons on more than one platform enjoy notably higher audience coverage and engagement. This is one of the reasons for including a single-installer function that covers each of the five major web browsers in the latest Browser Add-On Framework development." The Browser Add-On Framework enables any size of organization to streamline the add-on development process. A single piece of code from the Framework works in all browsers and uses common HTML, CSS and JavaScript technology, meaning there is no time wasted creating multiple variations of the add-on code for individual platforms. In addition to the distribution and visibility benefits this presents, it also reduces the cost of development by slashing development time. Any changes to code can also be rolled out simultaneously across the five major browsers, with no platform-specific coding required. With improved browser compatibility, add-ons developed using the new Browser Add-On Framework are also future-proofed against new browser versions.

The new version of Besttoolbars' Browser Add-On Framework can be downloaded from December 12, 2012.
