It's becoming hard to tell whether users are accessing Facebook more through their mobile devices or on a computer. As mobile users continue to increase, Facebook is looking to make the mobile payment process easier for developers and consumers. Along those lines, Facebook has launched an effort to standardize HTML5 to help developers write applications for mobile handsets. It's working with mobile operators to make phone-based payments easier.
Many developers have debated the virtues of HTML5 versus the virtues of native applications, but for the most part, there does not seem to be a definitive solution in existence. The Global Intelligence Alliance attempted to address these issues in 2010. And in 2011, Google I/O conducted a seminar where representatives of both HTML5 and Android argued on behalf of both parties. Since Yahoo's newly appointed CEO Scott Thompson has promised to bring the company to the forefront of technological pioneering once again, Yahoo has taken an interest in the "HTML5 verses native app debate" for its own team to expand on.
Cloud commerce company Savtira Corporation has launched the beta version of its e-store, which is designed to demonstrate the firm's cloud commerce e-tail platform in the hopes of showing clients its cloud capabilities. The new platform combines ecommerce features with "cutting-edge" digital technology built on HTML5, such as streaming and a digital locker - often out of reach for many online retailers, according to said Timothy Roberts, president and CEO of Savtira.
