Ubiquitous Entertainment's CEO Ryo Shimizu Discusses the Role of HTML5 in Nurturing the Next Generation of Programming Ninjas at DevCon5 in Santa Clara

Platinum Sponsors Illustrate How Technology is Transforming Technical Programming Tasks into Tools That Build the Future

Norwalk, CT, December 2, 2011 TMC (News - Alert) and Crossfire Media announced that DevCon5 Conference Platinum Sponsor Ubiquitous Entertainment, Inc. (UEI), an industry leader in Android/iPhone (News - Alert) app development, is showcasing how its HTML5 game creation engine enchant.js is giving young game creators the tools to learn programming at next week’s DevCon5 Conference in Santa Clara, California.

UEI’s Chief Executive Officer, Ryo Shimizu and Technical Evangelist Eric McEver will present a Luncheon Keynote address on Thursday, December 8 at 1:00 PM.

“enchant.js is pioneering the use of HTML5, and these efforts are creating a significant impact on the gaming industry, and the larger ‘any-to-any’ strategy,” said DevCon5 producer Carl Ford (News - Alert), of Crossfire Media. “I’m looking forward to this session next week, and to learning more about the future of gaming.”

Developed at the Akihabara Research Center (ARC) in Tokyo, Japan, enchant.js gives first-time game creators the tools to learn HTML5 while writing games for a wide variety of devices. As part of its 9leap contest, ARC has sponsored programming camps challenging developers to write a game in 8 hours or less. “Fun and Easy Game Programming” is the message of enchant.js, which aims to bring the joy of game creation to enthusiasts of all ages.

UEI’s Shimizu began his career as a writer and editor at “Monthly I/O Magazine,” Japan’s most prestigious computer magazine, before becoming chief evangelist for Windows CE for Dreamcast at Microsoft (News - Alert). He later developed Japan’s first mobile game software, and went on to found UEI, an industry leader in Android/iPhone app development. He is editor of the Japanese technology blog wise9, and supervises the student HTML5 game development contest 9leap.

UEI’s McEver studied Japanese literature and film at Waseda University and the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies. He joined Ubiquitous Entertainment Inc. in 2010 and currently serves as International Technical Evangelist at the Akihabara Research Center.

Known as the “Happy Computing Company”, UEI uses technology as a means to contribute to the welfare of humanity. Additional information on how UEI’s solutions are being used is available on the company’s website. enchant.js can be downloaded from enchantjs.com.
