ARRIS Group, Inc has unveiled an enhanced version of Moxi software for the ARRIS Whole Home Solution. The latest version 2.0 includes a highly developed HTML5 WebKit-based browser and is compatible with MSO custom designed application storefronts and downloadable applications.
Developers will be able to create applications on the platform quickly with the sophisticated Web Services application programming interface, API and software development kit or SDK included in the latest version. ARRIS’ commitment to open architectures is clearly demonstrated with these latest offerings, which also offers a flexible platform to broadband network operators for stepping up innovation and characteristic offerings.
A RESTful command and control-interface along with many other features is offered by the Moxi Web Services API, thereby allowing certified associates to deploy functions like media player remote control, remote control key press communication, playing of linear and recorded information and mobile device coupling for approval.
Exclusive branding options like name, logo, and application placement within the application store can be developed within the Moxi User Interface using the Moxi SDK tools. A feature rich development environment is also offered by the Moxi SDK and Moxi Web Services API to operators and third party developers, resulting in the applications offering additional value.
In a release, Ron Miller, vice president, Moxi Product Management, ARRIS, said, "We strive to deliver value to our customers and help them deliver an engaging and desirable consumer experience. Release 2.0 of Moxi, with its integrated browser, application store and toolsets open the platform to expand that experience and present powerful extensions for the solution."
A mobile application for iPad will be demonstrated by ARRIS at the forthcoming NCTA (News
- Alert) Cable Show. Customers will be offered new methods to interact with the ARRIS Whole Home Solution, like remotely accessing and scheduling recordings through the mobile app, which has been developed using the latest Moxi SDK and Moxi Web Services API.
The primary users of the ARRIS Whole Home Solution including Wow!, Shaw, Bend Broadband, and Buckeye Cable have widely recognized the capabilities of the existing Moxi software. Customers can experience a complete range of digital entertainment services with the flexible, easy-to-use platform, the Whole Home System from ARRIS.
