appMobi has announced the launch of “Boom Town,” a cross platform HTML5 game on the Apple App Store, Google Play (Android (News - Alert)), and on Facebook.
Boom Town is an old west-themed combination game.
“Over the last year, we’ve perfected the use of HTML5 to develop and deliver massively cross platform games, giving developers the fastest possible path to literally billions of mobile device users around the world,” said Sam Abadir, chief technology officer at appMobi (News - Alert). “Today, we’re proving this capability with another first: our own massively cross platform game.”
The game involves building the biggest town possible in the space made available on the game board. Besides showcasing appMobi’s capabilities in game development tools and cloud services, the game also highlights HTML5 features and capabilities.
Boom Town will now be accessible to a huge cross platform user base of over 1.5 billion end users on various platforms. appMobi has succeeded in displaying the features of HTML5 and its capabilities which are on par with iOS and Android, officials said.
The game was developed through the ImpactJs game engine and a single HTML5 code base. appMobi’s cloud-based build system allows the same code to be built for each supported app store.
The company will showcase the game on different platforms in the E3 show, scheduled to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, June 5-7 this year.
Boom Town features Facebook (News - Alert) integration for single sign-in, viral invites and game play updates and leverages appMobi’s HTML5 game engagement and monetization capabilities. The cross-platform program saves using appMobi’s appSync, and the in-app purchasing capabilities employ appMobi’s 1Touch Universal.
Analytics tracking, leaderboards and badges use appMobi’s playMobi. The multichannel background and one-shot sounds use appMobi’s multiSound and in-game cross promotion.
Mobile gamers currently tend to play the same game in different devices, but as mobile games do not communicate across different devices, achievements like high scores, levels and virtual goods collect on the device in which they were earned or purchased.
This difficulty has been eliminated by appMobi’s appSync, which lets Boom Town save games, high scores and gold for access on any other supported platform. This requires just a Facebook login so players can add their earnings conveniently.
appMobi recently released the beta version of a software development tool, designed to improve the graphics of applications that run on Android-based mobile AppMobi’s directCanvas technology, to accelerate the speed of screen refresh rates in games and apps that use the HTML5 canvas element.
