Placecast, the creator of ShopAlerts, has announced the appearance of its newest product called the ShopAlerts Wallet. This wallet application will make use of Placecast's experience with location-based marketing and a touch of mobile commerce magic to allow you to make mobile payments in a sinch. The Wallet is built in HTML5, making it compatible with most mobile devices on the market today.
If there’s one thing everyone’s doing now, it’s focusing on mobile payments, a new and lucrative market trend that is slowly (but surely) revolutionizing the way businesses operate.
Because of the Wallet's special functions, companies can integrate it into any of their own applications or mobile purchase platforms. Much unlike the other wallet's we've seen come to life, Placecast intends the ShopAlerts Wallet to be used only with trusted credit card companies, mobile carriers, and retailers that can conform to its application programming interface (API). Others can integrate payment platforms through the HTML5 Wallet and create a skin for branding.
Here's another thing that makes the Wallet unique: Customers can save, make use of, and receive offers from the same platform. They can also automatically receive offers nearby via SMS or push technology. The mobile purchasing solution presents the availability of everything every other mobile payment app already has such as barcode scanning and sharing offers via social networks.
Placecast's CEO, Alistair Goodman, said, "The future of commerce is being dramatically transformed by smartphones, putting customers in control. Consumers like convenience, to save money, and to be rewarded for their business. Leveraging the industry's most robust mobile offers platform, the ShopAlerts Wallet delivers on this promise today. Over the last three years, major brands, mobile operators, and payment companies have seen incredible results from our location-based offers programs. We expect to see even more exciting avenues for monetization emerge as people open up their mobile wallet."
As far as the business-end is concerned, Greg Sterling, senior analyst at Opus Research, said, "Placecast has created something quite powerful by bringing its alerts engine to mobile wallets. It will not only enable more precise offer targeting but will provide complete transparency in terms of ROI."
