HTML5 Apps Getting More Popular By the Day

There doesn’t seem to be much argument that HTML5 is gaining steam in the tech world. The programming language that allows people to design apps and websites that can operate on a whole host of different platforms is gaining credibility as more people check out all that the tech can do. Game developers are especially stepping up their games as they look for ways to make games that could be even more popular than they already are.

HTML5 has actually become so popular over the last year or so that there is some real debate as to what kind of programming language future app developers will be using. Of course, there are still quite a few incentives to be making the applications in one kind of native operating system or another, but HTML5 is gaining on Android (News - Alert) and iOS. One recent report from industry analyst BI Intelligence says that eventually, HTML5 will indeed win out and become the norm for developing new apps.

There are a number of different reasons as to why HTML5 might be preferred to native apps, but there are a couple that seem likely to help HTML5 rise up the ranks fairly quickly. The fact that apps that display video or allow you to access a site such as your bank can be done in HTML5 more cheaply could be a contributing factor toward the programming language gaining ground. Shell apps, or apps that can be put into app stores, base their entire functionality on HTML5 and are becoming more popular every day as well. The Facebook (News - Alert) app for the iPad is just one of these kinds of applications.

The report shows that more and more application developers are working with HTML5 because of the sheer ease of which these apps can be built and marketed to any kind of platform they choose. It appears that HTML5, while certainly not perfect, is indeed gaining ground and could be the dominant way in which people develop their apps in the next few years.
