Monaca Now Supports Chrome Apps

Monaca, the HTML5 hybrid app development platform developed by Asial Corporation, has recently added Chrome Apps support to the platform.

Monaca is an HTML5 hybrid app development platform useful for developers to make applications in HTML5 and JavaScript, and deploy them across multiple platforms. Monaca has almost 45,000 users worldwide and the company’s major enterprise customers, located in Japan, include ASICS, TV Asahi, KDDI and many more.

The new Chrome Apps support will allow Monaca to support iOS, Android (News - Alert), Windows 8, Kindle Fire and Chrome Apps, enabling the developers to enjoy wide cross-platform capabilities during the hybrid applications build up.

This feature lets users to build for Chrome Apps by simply pulling down the menu option in Monaca. Chrome Apps deliver an experience as capable as a native app, but as safe as a web page. Just like web apps, Chrome Apps are written in HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS (News - Alert). Chrome Apps look and behave like native apps, and are much more powerful than those available to web apps.

Chrome Apps loads locally and does not rely on the network. It also has access to Chrome APIs and services that are not available to traditional websites. Once a user installs an app, they have full control over the app's lifecycle. Apps open and close quickly, and the system can shutdown apps at any time to improve performance. Users can fully uninstall apps.

"At Google (News - Alert) I/O 2014 this week, Google showed how Chromebook ranks in the Top 10 of notebook reputation and is rapidly increasing its share. Adding Chrome Apps support allows your app to run on Chromebooks and traditional desktop environments, with the same source code as iOS and Android apps," said Masahiro Tanaka, CEO of Monaca.
