DevCon5 Kicks Off in NYC

DevCon5 is a hands-on HTML5 and mobile app developer conference hosted by TMC (NewsAlert) and Crossfire Media, an integrated marketing company with a core focus on future trends in technology. The conference kicked off this morning and will be going on all day through tomorrow at The Kimmel Center in New York City.

DevCon5 provides attendees with the information and tools needed to exploit the capabilities of revolutionary HTML5 technology. In two days, attendees will be able to enhance their skills and developing tactics to build HTML5 pages and apps.

In addition to networking with colleagues and community, attendees can learn from Adobe, Microsoft (News Alert) and other top names. Sessions are hands on and demonstrate how to write code that makes the user’s screen come alive.

The conference began this morning with sessions on the HTML5 connectivity revolution, a DEMO, WebWorks maximizing HTML5, WebSocket 101 and designing cross-platform mobile Web apps.

Wayne Lee, director of engineering at Qualcomm (News Alert), will present the luncheon keynote session on “The Future of Mobile Computing” this afternoon. Lee has been working on mobile OS platform software for the past 10 years: BREW, Windows Mobile, Linux, Android, ChromeOS, WebOS. He now works on developer outreach and provides tools to help mobile developers create more powerful and compelling applications on mobile platforms like Android, Windows RT, and HTML5.

In all, more than 25 industry pundits will be speaking at the event, representing companies such as 8bitrocket.com, Adobe, appMobi, Kaazing, ListYourself.net, LongTail Video, MassDiGI, Mobiquity, MocoSpace, Mozilla (NewsAlert) Labs, Relevens, RIM, Sencha, and more. Sessions will delve into dozens of HTML5 and mobile app topics, including animation, browser compatibility with HTML5, building new business models for the mobile Web, design, gaming and mobile, security, user experience and user interface.

The full agenda can be found here and includes animating HTML5 user experiences, creating massively cross-platform games with one HTML5 code base, Web delivery for all with jQuery mobile, HTML5 browser wars, under a deadline with HTML5, keynote speakers and much more.

The event is sponsored by Kaazing, the company enabling the Living Web – the dynamic, interactive online world populated by applications that are always on, always connected and always real-time. appMobi and Viewbiquity (NewsAlert) are Gold sponsors for the event.
