MoSync recently announced a collaborative partnership with InMobi. Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will work together to enable developers integrate mobile ad functionality within their HTML5 apps for a number of platforms such as Android, iOS and Windows Phone (News – Alert) among others.
In a release, Alex Jonsson, chief technical officer at MoSync, said, “It was very straight-forward and easy to add support for InMobi’s JavasScript Advertisement API within the MoSync development environment. InMobi’s platform-independent mobile ad network and MoSync’s rich cross-platform development environment make for a logical and mutually beneficial partner collaboration, which enables developers to easily integrate mobile ad functionality into their HTML5 apps across multiple platforms in one go, including Android (News – Alert), iOS and Windows Phone.”
The MoSync development environment now provides support for InMobi’s JavaScript Advertisement application programming interface (API). This makes it easy for HTML5/ JavaScript developers to use MoSync’s developer tools to create native mobile apps featuring InMobi banner ads. The most important aspect of this collaboration will be the elimination of the need to sign legal agreements with different platform providers by developers for cross-platform display of ads.
Patrick Pettay, head of App Developer Business Development, EMEA at InMobi, said, “We are excited about our partnership with MoSync and the opportunity to enable the vibrant community of MoSync developers to monetize their apps by leveraging the InMobi mobile advertising network globally.”
The struggle for most application developers lies in generating enough money on app download sales. These developers are thus forced to look up a variety of other business models. Developers use in-app advertising to monetize their apps to either support their development work, or to simply reduce the price or subscription rate of app download for users.
MoSync has provided a tutorial for HTML5 and JavaScript developers featuring step-by-step instructions and example code on how developers can integrate banner ads from InMobi within their MoSync HTML5 application. The tutorial has been made available here.
