There is never a shortage of people who are looking for a good navigation software system. Maps are a thing of the past and turn-by-turn navigation using smartphones, computers or GPS devices are part of the present and future. While it would seem as though the GPS market has been pretty well covered by some of the biggest companies around, it seems there is always room for one more company, especially when they seem to be bringing something new to the market. AtlasCT has announced it is putting together a turn-by-turn navigation platform that is built on HTML5, bringing something new to the market.
Atlas Cartographic Technologies (AtlasCT) has announced that later this month they will be releasing their newest mapping software, known as Evernav. This new mapping technology is more than just a new kind of HTML5 mapping software; Evernav says that this new tech will make it easier to monetize these types of GIS programs. Evernav is a turn-by-turn platform that is built to allow advertisers to easily place their ads on a map. This new mapping software will also be able to be integrated into existing applications or sites using a relatively simple line of code.
Once a user activates one of these maps, the advertisements will appear and developers can rake in a share of the profit using the Evernav revenue sharing model. "We are thrilled to present this innovative capability that is part of our new HTML5 mobile SDK and we believe that true cross platform compatibility is a key factor in today’s turbulent mobile market," Shlomo Emanuel, CEO of AtlasCT said in a recent press release.
Because this particular navigation software is built using HTML5 software, there are quite a few more things that users can do than they could if this particular software was built only for a mobile OS like iOS or Android (News – Alert). HTML5 gives the program the flexibility that something like this needs.
