Zoosk Touts Mobile Success

Zoosk (NewsAlert) has long been one of the more popular online dating sites on the Web thanks in large part to the adoption of the most complete mobile offering of any dating site. The company has long been a company that has seen the possibilities that come with offering their product on mobile devices as well as on a laptop or desktop computer. Today, the company has announced that their efforts in the mobile arena are paying off as they have hit some important milestones that demonstrate just how successful they have become.

Zoosk says that over the last year, their use of HTML5 and mobile applications has seen a growth on the mobile platform by more than 148-percent. The company also points out that dating is only part of what they do and that their mobile application is the top grossing social networking app in the iTunes store.

Mobile applications are only part of their approach to bring in more users. The success of HTML5 has led the company to design their entire site in the programming language, meaning that people will be able to access the entire site, no matter what kind of device they are accessing it with.

The mobile part of Zoosk is gaining steam as the company is saying that as much as 15-percent of all users are accessing the service daily through their mobile site. While Zoosk is heavily used on the iOS, Android (NewsAlert) appears to actually be the format that people access the service through the most. Android users have about 55-percent of traffic on the mobile site, while iOS has the other 45-percent.

Zoosk is hardly the only online data site that is seeing some real success these days. The revenue from online dating is expected to top $2.3 billion by the end of 2016. That would be more than double the $1 billion in revenue the industry saw in 2011. Mobile dating sites are also getting more popular across the spectrum. People spent an average of 8.4 minutes a day on mobile dating sites. That number is compared to people spending 8.3 minutes a day on regular, online dating sites.
