Improving workflow efficiency and providing enhanced flexibility to mobile workforces, Intermec (News
– Alert) has unveiled a new HTML5-capable browser. According to the company, this new browser facilitates the development of OS agnostic web applications that can run on iOS, Android (News – Alert) and some other Intermec rugged mobile computers.
Apart from being offered on preloaded and free of licensing fees or license activation needs on Intermec CN50, CS40, CN70, CN70e and CK70, Intermec’s HTML5 browser for Windows Embedded Handheld is built on the state-of-the-art Webkit engine, like iOS and Android. According to the company, this is available for free download for the CK3, CK71 and CV41.
“Intermec’s new HTML5-capable browser offers enterprises the flexibility to equip their mobile workers with a modern user interface and latest business logic, along with the right device for their specific working conditions and usage demands,” said Earl Thompson, Intermec SVP, Mobile Solutions Business Unit. “Offering much more than the next iteration of web language, Intermec’s HTML5 offering extends the Web paradigm to a whole new class of future-proofed applications by allowing for them to be developed and deployed cross-platform.”
For more than one models of Intermec’s handheld computers for Windows Mobile and Windows Embedded operating systems, Intermec’s HTML5 product consists of a true Web browser application, based on WebKit. Also, Intermec’s HTML5 browser supports applications created to run either on-line (connected to a web server), off-line (no connection to a web server) or a combination of the two.
Recently, the company unveiled its SG20 family of handheld scanners.
