appMobi HTML5 Cross Platform Dev Tools Now Support Windows 8, Windows Phone 8

Unsurprisingly, appMobi recently added both Windows 8 and Windows Phone (NewsAlert) 8 to its list of supported mobile and desktop platforms. Using JavaScript and HTML5, appMobi provides tools and services to help developers create "massively cross platform" apps.

By adding the recently released Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 to its supported platforms, appMobi (NewsAlert) can once again help developers using JavaScript and HTML5 create and deploy apps to all major app stores from a single JavaScript code base.

"The benefits of adding Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 to appMobi’s supported platforms run both ways: hundreds of thousands of developers who use appMobi to build apps with JavaScript and HTML5 can now port them to the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 with a simple rebuild," said Dave Kennedy, appMobi CEO.

He also added that developers using Visual Studio can also use appMobi to address iOS, Android (NewsAlert), Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 without recoding.

“It’s important to minimize the friction for developers to build great apps for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8. By integrating their tools into Visual Studio, appMobi made it easy for developers to reuse their HTML5 and JavaScript skills,” said Jean-Christophe Cimetiere, director of Windows Phone partner and developer of programs at Microsoft Corp.

AppMobi has also provided new app templates for developers with code supporting generic Web apps, accelerated games and Facebook (NewsAlert) apps, making it even easier to create cross platform apps.

Furthermore, the company has integrated support for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 into its appHub cross platform build tool, which allows a JavaScript/HTML5 app to b built into an app store-ready binary file for iOS, Android, Facebook, Windows Phone, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Mozilla (NewsAlert) app stores.

In September, appMobi released privateStack, a licensable enterprise version of its mobile HTML5 app development and cloud services stack. Around that time, the company also partnered with Thirdpresence to integrate the latter’s video publishing platform and HTML5 player technology into appMobi’s mobile app development toolkit.
