Brightcove has a few things to say about HTML5, and it’ll be saying it at DevCon 5.
The vice president of Brightcove, Ashley Streb, will be Thursday’s keynote speaker at DevCon 5 HTML5 & Mobile App Developers conference in San Francisco, discussing how Brightcove’s App Cloud platform is made for the next wave of mobile app development.
HTML5, the fifth revision of the HTML standard, is the latest version of the markup language used to create and present content on the Internet. While it is not yet the standard, it’s only a matter of time before HTML4 gets phased out completely, and 5 becomes the new language.
Of course, those attending DevCon have been keeping a close eye on HTML5, and are working on using it and preparing devices for it. There is also an increase in developing hybrid apps that use HTML5/CSS3 and native containers, which make them more accessible for more devices and browsers.
Brightcove is no different, with the Brightcove Video Cloud made to simplify HTML5 video delivery on iOS devices. It has been focusing on HTML5 video streaming, including video analytics, advertising and Video Cloud Smart Players that deliver the best Flash and HTML5 video content possible.
As such, the expertise and knowledge Ashley Streb can bring to DevCon will certainly be helpful. During his keynote address, he will look at examples of hybrid apps and explain when and why developing hybrid apps is the smart thing to do.
His session, “The Rise of Hybrid Apps,” will be held on Thursday, November 29, at noon.
HTML5 is set to be the standard soon, so we’d better get used to the idea. Those attending and presenting at DevCon5 already have, and it looks like the keynote from Brightcove will make a nice case for hybrid app development.
