HTML5 continues its spread through the mobile platform–this week hitting software vendor Brainshark (News – Alert). The company has announced a new Mobile Player for iOS and Android devices, based entirely on HTML5.
The new player is developed to match the functionality of Brainshark’s desktop player, so Brainshark, as well as those companies offering iOS and Android (News – Alert) devices, are excited for this newest mobile version.
Brainshark CEO Joe Gustafson commented on the company’s latest development, saying, “The Brainshark Mobile Player empowers organizations to improve the reach, impact and effectiveness of their mobile communications.”
As for the impetus behind the player, Gustafson explained the idea for the new product came from this line of thinking: “As smartphones and tablets skyrocket in use, it’s not only important for companies to deliver content to mobile users, but also to deliver it in a high-impact and intuitive format.”
The experience is designed to be much more interactive. Gustafson added that users “can use Brainshark to create interactive video content and know it will be easily accessible and engaging to viewers on their desktop and mobile devices.”
According to Brainshark, the presentations users will create using its technology have a worldwide view rate of one presentation viewed per two seconds.
Brainshark has seemingly thought of everything when it comes to its new mobile player–with HTML5 the abilities are numerous, and include voice narration, video clip integration, interactive questions, downloadable attachments, poll creation, survey and exam questions and answers and click-navigation to pause and resume presentations at any point, and at any time.
In addition, Brainshark allows the presentations to be shared through various social media platforms, like Facebook (News – Alert) and Twitter, as well as through e-mail via a link.
The mobile player is also formatted to enable deployment through a SCORM-compliant, mobile-enabled learning management system.
Although the mobile player is optimized with HTML5 to work through iOS or Android devices, Brainshark has tweaked its product to be used non-interactively, and its presentations can be streamed to non-iOS and non-Android devices as well, such as Blackberry or the Windows Phone (News – Alert).
HTML5 is rapidly asserting its position in the tech world, and this new, highly capable mobile player through Brainshark is just another stop on its way.
