Wyplay, a provider of innovative software solutions for TV operators, this week launched its next generation HTML5 Android (News – Alert) platform. Designed with chipset vendors, set top box manufacturers, RCU companies and third party software houses in mind, this TV reference platform is based on the award winning Wyplay Middleware, used in millions of operators deployments worldwide.
Managed by a pure HTML5 user interface, WYPLAY’s new Android platform also leverages Google’s (News
– Alert) mobile OS. However, unlike most basic Android platforms on the market today — which tend to be telephone-centric Android chipset ports and are therefore not suitable for TV management — the Wyplay TV reference platform is purpose built for TV operator needs, such as security and product range management.
Furthermore, this new platform runs on chipsets form the two leading chipsets providers, ST and Broadcom (News
– Alert), making it highly accessible to the majority of TV operators.
"With the launch of this next generation TV platform, Wyplay once again demonstrates that it has attentively listened to its customers, correctly observed the market needs, and acted to create an extremely innovative and adaptable solution" said Dominique Feral, CMO of Wyplay, in a statement. "Wyplay’s customers are now able to deliver an evolving range of products and offerings that suite their specific market and their individual subscriber needs"
Wyplay is an independent company that develops open, modular solutions for IPTV (News
– Alert), cable, satellite, and terrestrial operators and broadcasters. The company expanded its operations into North America in October 2011, leveraging its European operator success. At the time, Wyplay’s client-side software solution had become the benchmark for Tier-1 operators in the European IPTV and OTT market.
Since then, the company has continued its success and kept up with current trends. For example, in September 2012, it launched WyCLUB, its next generation multiscreen and multiuser TV platform. However, unlike other multiscreen platforms on the market, WyCLUB is not a subset of an end-to-end solution, granting it greater flexibility in deployment, development and support.
