Ericom Software, a company that deals in application access and desktop virtualization solutions, announced that its AccessNow solution has been selected by Bradford Central School District in New York.
Ericom AccessNow is an HTML5 RDP Client, providing browser access to Windows applications and desktops (virtual & physical), running on Windows Terminal Services / RDS / VDI platforms, including Microsoft (News
– Alert) Hyper-V and other hypervisors. AccessNow supports Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. The users can access the solution from smartphones, Tablets including iPad, iPhone (News – Alert), Android devices, locked-down work stations and from computers running Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Chrome OS. The solution extends the reach of VMware View, Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop, Dell (News
– Alert) (Quest) vWorkspace, Ericom PowerTerm WebConnect, and Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop (RD) Connection Broker, to Chromebook and other HTML5-enabled devices and browsers.
Jeff Tham, Technology Coordinator for Bradford Central School District says that "The biggest obstacle we ran into was that we have a handful of apps that cannot run on our Chromebooks, the most important of which is a Windows-based typing program called Typing Master. Additionally, our students also need access to other Windows legacy applications such as Internet Explorer, Office Suite and possibly even Adobe (News – Alert) PhotoShop."
Ericom Software recently released AccessToGo for Chrome, the fastest RDP client for the Google (News
– Alert) Chrome platform. Available for free from the Google Chrome Web Store, AccessToGo provides fast and simple access to Windows desktops and applications on any RDP host, including Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDS) Session Hosts (Terminal Services) and virtual desktops. AccessToGo runs directly within the Chrome browser, and supports Chromebooks and Chromeboxes, as well as Windows, Mac OS X and Linux devices running Chrome.
Brian Berns, Ericom Software’s President and COO said that "Bradford Central School District has joined a growing list of schools, school districts and universities that have chosen AccessNow to help implement BYOD, 1:1 computing and Chromebook deployments. These K-12 districts and universities are discovering that AccessNow is a flexible solution that enables students and staff to access Windows applications and desktops from a wide range of devices. It’s also a solution that’s easy to deploy, so it minimizes the burden on IT staff while fitting their budgetary requirements."
