Ericom Software a provider of application access and desktop virtualization solutions unveiled AccessNow for VMware View version 2.4.
Eran Heyman, Ericom’s founder and CEO said, “We have seen fantastic traction of AccessNow across a wide variety of industries and use cases since its original release over two years ago.”
The new release also features a tech preview of access to VM-Hosted Applications using AccessNow HTML5 and VMware Horizon View. This facilitates the deployment of Windows applications using VMware View VDI desktops as the hosting platform.
The VMware View solution can provide browser-based access to applications for large groups of task-based users without the need for a full virtual desktop deployment.
The AccessNow for VMware View version 2.4 release features UI locale that can be automatically selected based on browser locale besides offering multi languages keyboard support for Japanese, Korean and others in the PC and mobile versions. Audio support can be ensured if iOS 6.x is available on iPad and iPhone (News – Alert), said officials.
According to users the Ericom AccessNow for VMware Horizon View also features file transfer, printing, copy / paste and audio capabilities. It serves as a computing model for deploying applications with specific operating system type or resources.
Ericom AccessNow is available as a standalone version and can be connected to any physical or virtual desktop or terminal server. Also, AccessNow can be integrated with Citrix XenApp, VMware View, Dell (Quest) vWorkspace and PowerTerm WebConnect. It is compatible with Chromebooks, iPads, Android (News – Alert) tablets, smartphones, Blackberry devices and on Windows / Linux PCs, Macs, Windows 8 Surface, netbooks and ultrabooks.
Several organizations use AccessNow to implement BOYD and remote access programs encompassing various devices. The need for installing new software on the end-user device is also eliminated thereby reducing IT overhead.
Also K-12 and higher education institutions are leveraging the capabilities of Ericom AccessNow to extend Chromebooks with remote access to Windows desktops and applications.
The AccessNow solution has been selected by Bradford Central School District in New York. The implementation helped the school use a Windows-based typing program called Typing Master and other Windows legacy applications like Internet Explorer, Office Suite and Adobe (News – Alert) PhotoShop.
