Panel Brings Social Gaming Expertise to DevCon5

Norwalk, CT – July 19, 2013 – TMC and Crossfire Media today announced that three social gaming experts — Alex Engel of Distruptor Beam, Elliott Mitchell of Vermont Digital Arts and Jonathan Myers of Reactive Studios  — will share their expertise at DevCon5, July 24-25, 2013, at the Kimmel Center at New York University. DevCon5 is dedicated to providing the information needed to implement and succeed at HTML5 for the industry’s leading application creators and developers, graphic designers, Web and UI artists, enterprise architects, information technologists, system managers and more.

As producer at Distruptor Beam, Engel works on support, product development and product for Game of Thrones Ascent. Coming from CCP Games, Engel has been in game development for nearly a decade. Mitchell, CEO and founder of Vermont Digital Arts, has been creating digital art and video games since the 1980s, and currently teaches beginner to in-depth courses on 3D art, game design, video production, interactivity and interdisciplinary circles. Myers is the Creative Director of Reactive Studios where he develops compelling audio games with interactive dramatic scenarios for a reflective, story-based player experience. As a freelance narrative designer, Myers has planned and implemented narrative launch content for Disruptor Beam’s Game of Thrones Ascent.

In the panel “The Game Developer’s Dilemma,” on Thursday, July 25, at 11:15 a.m., the experts will help examine one of the critical questions every developer needs to ask: What would be the best choice, HTML5 or something else? The session will discuss how HTML5 holds the oft-heard promise of “write once, run anywhere,” and the potential for Unity 3D to be the most common multi-platform development environment for cross-platform games.

“HTML5 is constantly changing and the sessions at DevCon5, like ‘The Developer’s Dilemma,’ are designed to provide the information and tools needed to fully utilize the capabilities of the technology,” said Carl Ford (NewsAlert), CEO for Crossfire Media and executive director of conference content and community.

DevCon5 is supported by Diamond Sponsors Basho and Blackberry; Platinum Sponsors Kony and Radware (News Alert); Gold Sponsors Aol Networks and Dreamfactory; and Silver Sponsor Xtreme Labs.
