Playtox’s Mobile Game ‘My Farm’ Comes to the US

If you are a fan of virtual farming, you’re in luck as the mobile game developer Playtox recently launched its massively multiplayer online (MMO) game “My Farm” in the United States.

My Farm, which has already drawn 10 million users in Eastern Europe and has a 60 percent retention rate, is a free-to-play mobile browser game that doesn’t require an app to be downloaded and enables users to play with and against others inside or outside of his or her social network, unlike app-based mobile games. This gives users the ability to make new online friends, as well as the opportunity to integrate and expand their social media pages.

Besides expanding the outreach of “My Farm,” by offering it as a mobile browser game, the browser platform eliminates many other issues prevalent with app-based games such as downloads and constant updates, according to Dmitry Sergeey, Playtox’s founder and chief strategy officer.

The game offers a simulated farming experience through players creating their own farms, growing a variety of plants and crops, and tending to farm animals. Players are given a countless number of goals and tasks to obtain things such as rare seeds, diamonds and fuel.

"The U.S. launch of ‘My Farm’ aligns perfectly with our mission to design games around a highly social yet mobile audience of more than 45 million that enjoys interacting with people from all over the world," Artem Zinoviev, CEO of Playtox, said in a statement.

‘My Farm’ can be accessed on all feature phones and smartphones with Web capabilities and is available in both high-definition and light versions.

Playtox is expected to release many other games in the United States and other regions, in addition to extending its HTML5 technologies in its MMO line-up, with the help of $3 million recently raised in funds by the technology-focused venture capital firm Runa Capital.
