With only a couple months left in summer, it’s prime vacation season — which may explain why the HTML5 space was a bit slower than normal this past week.
First up, gaming company Probability released a new cross-platform title called Roulette HD this week. Described by the company as "the most advanced, feature-rich experience available on mobile," the game features a unique, in-house design framework that allows players to drag graphics around at will. This framework also offers a broad range of options designed to appeal to veteran roulette players.
In other HTML5 gaming news, developer Playtox launched its massively multiplayer online (MMO) game My Farm to the United States. The game — which has seen massive success in Eastern Europe, where it draws in 10 million users and holds a 60 percent retention rate — is a free-to-play mobile browser game. That’s right, with the power of HTML5, My Farm bypasses the need for a dedicated app, making it usable on practically any platform. Indeed, with high definition and light versions, the game can even be played on feature phones.
Meanwhile, Crossfire Media partner and TMCnet contributor Carl Ford weighed in on the need for context when dealing with customers which, as it turns out, gets trickier with online advertising than in the contact center. Caching is used to help along online advertising, but the optimization of ads on the Web isn’t ideal currently. While HTML5 tools, less cumbersome than traditional Flash swf files, are seen as a solution to this, Ford describes them as "scattered and inconsistent."
Lastly, FlipPageMaker.com began rolling out the latest version of FlipBook Creator for HTML5. This version introduces a number of new and updated features, such as a new start page with user-friendly navigation, and 10 new flipbook templates with graphical options, background designs and other functions.
That’s all for this week, but be sure to head to the main HTML5 Report page for more news in this space.
