The solution converts sites created using Wix into an optimized mobile version. The company is especially addressing small to medium sized businesses that are lagging behind in converting their websites to mobile. As smartphones, tablets and mobile applications become the preferred mode of computing for many consumers around the world, businesses have to ensure their website is designed to be consumed by users without any compatibility issues.

The new solution is able to translate the site’s content, composition, e-commerce, functionality, and any other applications that are part of the website into a mobile version. Users will be able to make changes to their mobile sites without affecting the regular website using a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) enabled mobile editor.

According to the CEO the Wix platform is built on flexible layers that offer the user multiple customizable mobile offerings. This option allows content changes that are made on the regular website to automatically change on the mobile edition.

By providing single URL structure among versions, single source code, and single source for content, the new Wix mobile sites follow mobile web best practices, which is essential for improving search engine optimization (SEO).

The Wix platform is a freemium business model that uses premium upgrades in order to earn revenues. The company announced that it has filed its registration statement with the SEC (News – Alert) to begin the process of its initial public offering. It was established in 2006 by Avishai and Nadav Abrahami, and Giora (Gig) Kaplan and is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel.
