Drag and Drop Integration Leverages Power of HTML5


The development of applications to make life easier when operating on a smartphone or tablet has reached a new level of optimization thanks to SnapLogic. The company is offering fast drag-and-drop methods for designing, assembling and deploying reliable integration for on-premises and cloud-based apps.

To guarantee optimized delivery, the company offers the SnapLogic Integration Cloud to update design and monitoring user interfaces (UIs) with HTML5 and runtime infrastructure. Once a cloud-based integration, SnapLogic has transformed this offering into an enterprise-class integration platform as a service (iPaaS). The new design supports real-time, batch, process integrations and big data across on-premise and cloud environments.

SnapLogic is extending traditional integration tools, such as enterprise application integration (EAI) and extract, load and transform (ETL). Integration developers know how to use both EAI and ETL and would prefer a single integration platform that extends both for the cloud. SnapLogic Integration Cloud Winter 2014 aims to address this desire with a cloud-based approach that combines the best of both worlds.

The three technology pillars in the Integration Cloud include REST APIs and intelligent assembly-ready containers (known as Snaps), virtualization (though the Java Virtual Machine) and UIs powered by HTML5. Snaps are powered by the REST APIs and include transformations, mappings, orchestration and validations.

Auto scale and elasticity are enabled with virtualization. The HTML5 powered UIs support tome and runtime tasks. The Designer, Manager and Dashboard UIs are available from the browser to run using tablets, mobile devices and Macs.

According to Darren Cunningham, SnapLogic’s vice president of marketing, it’s not a focus on simply connecting a SaaS (News Alert) application to on-premise software. Instead, this innovative approach is about leveraging the cloud to enable all company integration on a private cloud, public cloud or even collaboration between on-premise to on-premise.

Cunningham told IDN in an interview that there are two driving principles behind this latest release from SnapLogic. First, the company wanted to enable fast and simple design and deployment of any complex business-critical integration. By using an HTML5 user interface, integration is made easier, faster and more reliable.

The company also wanted to be able to guarantee delivery and auto-scale the integration between any number of apps, whether they are in the public or private cloud or based on-premise. If a message cannot be delivered after a specific number of attempts, the administrator may be notified instead. If a failure occurs, the service can be configured to send email. The administrator sets the number of times the system should continue to attempt delivery of the message.

This latest development from SnapLogic allows developers to leverage the power of HTML5 to achieve the easy integration they need to drive productivity and meet a growing demand.
