DevCon5 Focuses Content on Modern Gaming and Animation Tools and Technologies

Norwalk, Conn—March 18, 2014—TMC (NewsAlert) and Crossfire Media announced today that DevCon5 HTML5 & Mobile App Developer Conference will feature strategic content to help developers create artistic,  awe- inspiring animations without the need for Flash. DevCon5, held July 9-10, 2014, at The Kimmel Center at New York University in New York City, will explore revolutionary technology and development tools that enable developers, designers and mobile Web architects to thrive.

“In order to effectively deliver the web on a mobile device, a visual experience must be delivered without using unnecessary processing. Rendering with HTML5 and CSS3, and with tools such as Haxe/Flambe, SVG and others, this has become possible.  This goal is being achieved in both native and browser- based applications.  DevCon5 explores how games, video and other web applications are effectively delivered using these tools”

The sessions focused on gaming, animation tools and technologies include:

  • Haxe Introduction:  Nate Altschul, Director of Game Development at Nickelodeon  present a session focused on Haxe which will let the developers choose the best platform for a given job and understand how to develop with Haxe regardless of the platform or programming language.
  • Haxe & Flambe -Got Game:  Flambe is a fast, expressive, and cross-platform engine for HTML5 and Flash games. If you are familiar with Flash you will find the transition to Flambe easy. Join Altschul and a community of HTML5 gamers to learn how to develop games using Haxe Flambe.
  • CSS (NewsAlert) Animations, SVG and Canvas: Constructing Animations using the Proper Tools: Designing a visualization or animation has to take into account many factors: communication, design, responsive development, and backwards compatibility. Sarah Drasner, Lead UI/UX Designer and Developer at Basho Technologies takes  a look at the tools available to work with and make decisions on which is the most appropriate for each task, depending on what User Experience concerns are the most important to the project.
  • The Power of Canvas: Reality check! HTML5 has become very powerful on its own, independent of the use of CSS3 and JavaScript. Hear how using Canvas can give developers animation abilities with better performance.
