Informative Graphics Adds Doc Merge to Brava! Enterprise

Informative Graphics Corporation has announced that its Brava! Enterprise HTML5 client added a new “Doc Merge” feature.

The feature allows users to merge different documents into a single PDF or TIFF file within a Web-based interface.

The Doc Merge feature works with multiple formats, such as engineering and design images, site images, and others into a single document. It can also condense information from longer documents to give to people who only need to focus on smaller tasks.

“Knowledge workers in banking, insurance, engineering, design and other industries often need to compile document or case content packages from a wide range of sources,” said IGC CEO Gary Heath. “The Brava Doc Merge user experience makes this process painless. Since it is HTML/browser based, it is ideal for enterprise use.”

The resulting files may also contain annotations such as markup, signatures and stamps that can be “baked in” for every user to see.

The new version of Brava! shows how widely HTML5 is already accepted, even in enterprise technology. All of the modern browsers, including Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer have some degree of HTML5 support.

Web-based applications have become an important part of the enterprise arsenal because they don’t have to be installed individually on users’ machines. More and more users are migrating off of desktops and onto mobile devices, even in business, especially as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies become more accepted.

Centrally installed and managed HTML5 applications like Brava! will serve an important need by supporting both desktops and mobile devices.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C (NewsAlert)) plans to release a stable HTML5 recommendation by the end of this year, and a stable version 5.1 by the end of 2016. The last major version of HTML, version 4.01, was finalized in 1999, well before the era of social networking. HTML5 is currently a “working draft.”
