Going to DevCon5: Work, Wonder and the Web

If you want to come to DevCon5, you can come as a walk-in. However, you probably should have prepared yourself in advance.  You see, DevCon5 is not a show for the evangelists who are looking to make their platform “the” platform.

Candidly, most of the speakers are highly skilled developers who know how to pick and choose, and who both contribute and use github to keep in touch and update their code.

This is a show for active coders, particularly those in the enterprise.  It’s a show that works to make the connection between the Web developer using java script and coder that is developing for the server.

The world is changing, and the Web developer is no longer the low-paid simple coder, but now has a skill set beyond design that brings speed and interaction to the experience of the site and systems for the BYOD world we live in.

This event may land you a new job, and it will not waste your time teaching you things you learned in university.  We have a bunch of people interested in recruiting talent.

Working on the Web today is about more than finding good graphics—it’s about making the adjustments so you get the same sense of wonder watching something on tablet or TV, a desktop or a smartphone.  In other words, the Web which is universal is giving you an experience on devices that is not.

For that reason alone, the show is going to be interesting.

I hope to see you there.
