Snowbound Launches VirtualViewer HTML5 4.0

Snowbound Software, a leading provider of document viewing solutions and technology, announced the launch of VirtualViewer HTML5 4.0, the newest version of its popular document viewer. VirtualViewer is an HTML-based Web application, compatible with any modern browser that provides a comprehensive suite of options for accessing documents of various formats.

The most significant enhancement brought by version 4.0 is the addition of support for SVG documents. VirtualViewer 4.0 displays SVG-formatted documents with HD clarity while reducing download sizes and memory requirements. Snowbound developed the first Java-based solution for viewing and converting popular document formats to SVG, finally eliminating the need for a third-party plugin and providing customers with easy access to SVG documents directly in the browser. This advancement allows for much greater transmission speed and higher user capacity on the server.

"This release of VirtualViewer will provide users with an unparalleled document viewing experience," said Jeff Kurson, Snowbound's Project Manager. "The benefits our SVG technology brings to the product are impressive and our customers will understand immediately that they are looking at something extraordinary."

The latest version also includes expanded printing capabilities, allowing users to print documents directly from the viewer locally or over a network, and an integrated email feature that enables users to email documents without leaving the viewer. Additional tools include the ability to copy or search for text within documents, display document metadata and adjust image quality. Snowbound has also expanded the solution's API support, improved keyboard shortcuts and added right-to-left language support.

"The release of 4.0 moves VirtualViewer HTML from the realm of mere viewing technology into a full business process application," said George Farnham, Vice President of Sales at Snowbound. "These enhancements give our customers in a variety of industries—including banking, shipping and healthcare—the ability to quickly view, annotate/redact, and distribute mission critical documents regardless of format."

VirtualViewer HTML5 4.0 is available for both Java and .NET (News Alert), and will begin shipping at the end of 2014.
