TigerText Hires Former Symantec and LinkedIn Leaders to Build Out Engineering and Product Teams

SANTA MONICA, Calif. –(Business Wire)–

TigerText, the leader in secure, real-time messaging for the enterprise, today announced the addition of former Symantec (NewsAlert) Software Development Manager Deepak Kothule and former LinkedIn Search Product Manager Johnathan Podemsky. As Vice President of Engineering, Kothule will oversee all TigerText engineering for its iOS, Android (NewsAlert), and web applications while Podemsky, Vice President of Product, will manage the TigerText product team, tasked with driving product innovation and roadmap as demand for the company’s secure messaging solution has accelerated.

With an MBA in Technology Management and more than 18 years of experience in software development, Kothule most recently served as Senior Manager of Software Development at Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC) where he oversaw the development of Norton Mac Security products and was instrumental in transforming the company’s Consumer Apple Engineering Group into an agile organization. Prior to Symantec, Kothule spent 10 years in mobile software development building an enterprise mobile application platform at Sendia Corporation (later acquired by Salesforce.com (NewsAlert) (NYSE:CRM)), where he led the Salesforce Mobile group, delivering award winning mobile products like Salesforce Mobile and Chatter Mobile. Kothule also worked for several other software development companies including Peregrine Systems, Symphoni Interactive, iBrain Software and more. At TigerText, he will lead its team of engineers focused on the design and development of the company’s secure messaging application.

Following positions at big data enterprise software leader Splunk (NewsAlert), and the Israeli Army Intelligence, Podemsky most recently served as LinkedIn’s Product Manager for Search, where he oversaw LinkedIn’s search product and user experience. An MIT (NewsAlert) gradate, Podemsky launched several search products while at LinkedIn, including Unified Search, the first content-based search capability that allows users to find content by simply typing in a topic or influencer name in the main search bar. In the newly created position of VP of Product, Podemsky will focus on the company’s long-term product roadmap, including software and design as well as the company’s joint development efforts.

“We’re excited to have Deepak and Johnathan join our team,” said Brad Brooks, Co-founder and CEO of TigerText. “They bring critical new skills to TigerText development that will be important to the success of several recently launched product initiatives. Deepak’s deep software engineering expertise paired with his track record in helping fast-growing companies transition into emerging markets makes him an extremely valuable asset, while Podemsky’s product management skills and past success in launching new products for LinkedIn will ensure we continue to lead the market in delivering innovative communication solutions.”
