A.M. BestTV: Lawmakers Grill FIO Director; Insurers Leverage Super Bowl

OLDWICK, N.J. –(Business Wire)–

This episode of A.M. BestTV looks at the Federal Insurance Office director’s appearance before a U.S. House panel. Additionally, experts explore insurance-related Super Bowl ads, with MetLife discussing its marketing blitz. In a special “View from Washington,” A.M. Best Washington Bureau Manager Jeff Jeffrey provides the highlights of FIO Director Michael McRaith’s testimony before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance. Video from the hearing shows McRaith arguing for areas where he believes national uniformity is required, such as the life reinsurance captive market or multistate licensing for agents. For the most part, legislators, along with the state regulators and others who also appeared during the day, were cool to the FIO’s recommendations, first announced in the agency’s December 2013 report on modernizing the U.S. system of insurance regulation. Following that report, Richard Hong, vice president, global brand and marketing at MetLife, speaks about the company’s marketing efforts surrounding the Super Bowl, played in MetLife Stadium. Gary Kimball, president of Kimball Communications, looks at ad buys by other insurance-related companies and judges their effctiveness.
