Qi joined Intel in 2001 as a software engineer to focus on IA32 performance optimization. Later on, he worked on optimizing Oracle JRockit virtual machine for Intel® Itanium® platform. In a distant world, he taught Z-80 assembly language on the original Radio Shack TRS-80. He has taught C uptown in Harlem to high school students, iOS downtown at the Pace University next to the Brooklyn Bridge, and was also one of the operators of the Andrus Planetarium at the Hudson River Museum way up in Yonkers.
